Hamden Chess Kids Team:
  • Opportunity for young chess players who are interested in playing in tournaments, improving at chess, and making new friends through chess
  • Open to ages 8-18, all rating levels
  • Organized by National Master Jordan Groff (Coach Jordan)
  • Benefits include eight training sessions (Pizza/"Prep Rallies") held the Sunday before each tournament 4:00-7:00PM A lesson with Coach Jordan followed by training games with teammates and pizza! Team members are encouraged to attend training sessions even if it doesn't suit them to go to the following week's tournament.
  • Team Camaraderie: Team members can hang out at tournaments and review games. Big tournaments can be intimidating for newer players, but being with a group of friends helps alot!

  • Team members are encouraged to attend as many of the eight tournaments and Prep Rallies as they can. Schedule of Tournaments and Pizza/Prep Rallies for the year is listed on 2023-2024 Hamden Chess Team Flyer (PDF).
