2026-2027 Hamden Kids Chess Team:

Opportunity for young chess players who are interested in playing in larger regional tournaments, improving at chess, and making new friends through chess
Open to ages 8-17, all rating levels (under 8 is ok, if experienced tournament player with established USCF rating)
Organized by National Master Jordan Groff (Coach Jordan)
Benefits include Advanced Classes (Thu 5:15-6:15PM, Sept 10-May 27) These classes are taught by Coach Jordan.
Team Camaraderie: Team members can hang out at tournaments and review games. Larger tournaments can be intimidating for newer players, but being with a group of friends helps alot!
Team Shirt
Team members are encouraged to attend as many classes and tournaments as suits their schedule.
Hamden Chess Team Flyer and Schedule is posted here (PDF). Team members will be encouraged to participate in a minimum of one tournament per month (either listed on the Schedule above or one of the HCC tournaments listed on the Events page.
Discounted Team fee for full year. $100 savings. Students can also sign up for half year at a time.
Enrolled PMCA Students (paying a monthly class fee) do not need to pay an additional fee to be part of the team!
