2025-2026 Hamden Kids Chess Team:

Opportunity for young chess players who are interested in playing in larger regional tournaments, improving at chess, and making new friends through chess
Open to ages 8-17, all rating levels (under 8 is ok , if experienced tournament player with established USCF rating)
Organized by National Master Jordan Groff (Coach Jordan)
Benefits include training sessions (Pizza/"Prep Rallies") held the Sunday before each tournament 4:00-7:00PM. These include a lesson with Coach Jordan followed by training games with teammates, and pizza! Team members are encouraged to attend training sessions even if it doesn't suit them to go to the following week's tournament.
Team Camaraderie: Team members can hang out at tournaments and review games. Larger tournaments can be intimidating for newer players, but being with a group of friends helps alot!
Team Shirt
Team members are encouraged to attend as many of the tournaments and Prep Rallies as they can.

Discount for current PMCA students and HCC Scholastic Club members
Team fee pro-rated for anyone joining mid-year. Year runs from July 1-June 30.
